About the Columbia State Community College Foundation

The Columbia State Community College Foundation’s mission is to support and partner with Columbia State to positively impact our communities and student success through the maintenance and enhancement of resources through excellence in relationship building, fundraising and investment management. Foundation management is under the direction of Bethany Lay, Executive for Advancement for Columbia State. Advancement also includes annual giving, alumni relations, community events and grants management.
In addition, for more than a decade the Foundation has partnered with Columbia State Community College, First Farmers Bank and other sponsors and patrons have successfully brought local and world-renowned artists to perform on the Cherry Theater stage as part of the Performance Series. The Foundation also supports the mission of the Pryor Art Gallery, located on the CSCC campus in Columbia, which strives to a first-class artistic venue where appreciation for all forms of visual art is enhanced through presentation of stimulating exhibits and programs that inspire, educate, enlighten, challenge and entertain.

Kuykendall Recognized for Service to Columbia State

Retiring Pryor Art Gallery curator Lucy Scott Kuykendall was honored by the Columbia State Community College Foundation’s Board of Trustees on March 14 with a resolution commemorating Kuykendall, second from left, for her decade of service to the college. On hand to offer their appreciation were (l-r) retired Columbia State president, Dr. O. Rebecca Hawkins, Dr. Janet Smith, current president, and Dr. Harold Pryor, Columbia State’s first president, a primary benefactor of the gallery.

Lucy Scott Kuykendall has been recognized for a decade of outstanding service as Curator for the Pryor Art Gallery at Columbia State Community College.
Columbia State Community College Foundation’s Board of Trustees presented a framed resolution to Kuykendall, who retired on March 31, 2012.
“Lucy has devoted her time and financial resources to furthering an understanding and appreciation for the visual arts,” Dr. Ken Moore, Foundation Board Chairman, read from the resolution at the ceremony held March 14 at Columbia State. “Lucy has been personally responsible for enhancing the student learning environment of the Columbia State Community College Campus through the cultivation of relationships with local, state and nationally recognized artists and through the exhibiting of their work in the Pryor Art Gallery.”
The resolution also credits Kuykendall with growing and diversifying the private art collection of Columbia State Community College for the benefit of students and the community at large.
Kuykendall, a Maury County native and the wife of Dr. Sam Kuykendall, said she is retiring to spend more time with her family, including her parents, Dr. and Mrs. William Fuqua.
